New Bus Shelters

The old bus shelters on the A4155 and Station Road were deteriorating, as noted by some residents. The parish council has used its funds to replace them with high quality oak frames and other materials for longevity... an improvement visually too. They are for use by all public service buses and other coach services. Click on the Home page to take a closer look.

Just to throw the thought out there, are there any other bus stops which residents feel would benefit from a shelter? Planning would need to be consulted but now is an ideal time to consider this. Perhaps this could be raised at the annual parish meeting on wednesday 31 May, at the Memorial hall.

Yes the other sites for bus shelters are being reviewed, but the PC didn't want to hold up fixing the others, which were barely standing. Obviously if there was no shelter there already, as is the case for several bus stops in the villages, the PC needs to apply for permission to position one, with the site lines and safety implications agreed with the relevant councils. Please do contact the PC with comments on the need for shelters. Plough lane may be an issue as the bus route is threatened.

I was going to say a similar thing. The bus shelters on Plough Lane also need doing. It's been a while since the one opposite the school blew down and the one by The Plough is looking unkempt.

Are there any plans yet to replace the bus shelter opposite Shiplake Primary Schools rear entrance in Plough Lane that got demolished by a high wind several years ago?
