New Housing Clarification in Shiplake

New housing was a key consideration in developing Shiplake's NP consistent with SODC's requrements for its 2011-2035 Local Plan period. Smaller villages are not required to provide new developments but an increase of 5%-10% in housing is viewed as appropriate as per Policy H8.

FYI: In 2011 Shiplake parish had 630 homes; a 5% increase represents 32 new homes, 10% 63 new homes. The current no. is 95 of 'built/in the process of being built' new homes, including the Retirement Village (65) and allowing for the loss of 16 dwellings at the SOHA development. A 15% increase. As referenced in the NP Referendum document, additional approved housing (135 homes) at the Thames Farm and Wyvale sites on the edge of Shiplake's Neighbourhood Plan Area are an important factor and effectively amounts to an increase of 36.5%.

An approved Neighbourhood Plan's policies become part of a local authorities (SODC's) planning framework post referendum. All the details of policies for sustainable growth and delivering our vision of the future are covered in Shiplake's Referendum Version of the NP.
